GLASS

Jordan instructing
at Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center*, Millville, NJ (*home of the Museum of American
Glass & the Creative Glass Center of America)
Spend
a week learning new skills and energize yourself with ideas to bring back to your
studio. Students of all levels pursue individual projects with daily demonstrations
from two teachers with over 35 years of combined experience. Traditional glass
painting techniques are explored in a depth not available during a shorter workshop.
In previous years, demos have included:
Tracing & Matting in historic styles
The
use of exotic mediums for the application of multiple matts
Instruction
in airbrush, silver stain and enameling
Gold leafing & precious metal luster
Sandblasting,
engraving and acid etching
Silk
screening and photo etching
Fusing
and kiln work
Life drawing and the anatomy of the head
Computer design using Photoshop & Glass Eye Software
Round
that out with lectures on restoration, public art, professional practices and
the history of stained glass and you have more technical information than most
students receive in a 4 year college program! A great investment and a great price!
Students may also opt to try making a paperweight or a blown glass vase at the
Wheaton Glass Factory (additional fee required through the Wheaton Make-your-Own
Program - see Wheaton Arts website for details). This class includes group lodging
in "his" & "hers" guest houses in historic Cape May, NJ (40 minutes from Wheaton).
This class is kept small to allow for individual instruction - never more than
8 students per class. Limited space is still available - reserve now!
