Take 5 days and immerse yourself in the sacred art of medieval stained glass amid the dazzling collections of the Glencairn Museum. Tread in the footsteps of the Gothic revival craftsmen who built the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. This workshop focuses on the historic art of glass painting. Students will explore the art of mixing, applying and firing, glass-based paints, enamels and stains. Designed to be a studio class, the curriculum includes lessons on ornamentation, lettering, drapery & the figure as inspired by imagery from the museum's unique collections. Learn traditional glass painting techniques revisited for the contemporary artist. Students should have a familiarity with glass cutting and assemble techniques as class work will need to be assembled outside the studio.
